Welcome to the YEAH Study!
Young adult Education on alcohol &
A study by the University of Washington
What is the yeah study?
YEAH is a research study on alcohol and sexual health led by Dr. Jessica Blayney and her team at the University of Washington. This study is funded by the National Institutes of Health.
We’re looking for young women ages 18-24 to give us feedback on an intervention being developed.
If eligible, you’ll receive a $50 gift card for your time.
if it's not a yeah, it's a no.
why is this study being done?
We’re developing a sex-positive intervention on alcohol and sexual health and are looking for feedback from young women ages 18-24 about its content and design.
Your feedback will ensure that we create an intervention that meets the needs of the women who will use it.
What would you be asked to do?
Participation would involve a one-time session over zoom. In the session, you would complete a background survey and a 1-on-1 interview to give feedback on the intervention.
During the interview, you won’t be asked about your personal experiences, but rather what you think women your age would say about the content and design.
What will we talk about?
Background questionnaires will ask about your alcohol use and sexual health. Intervention content will cover topics like emotions, alcohol use, sexual communication, sexual refusal, and unwanted sexual experiences.
The zoom session will take about 2 hours and you’ll receive a $50 gift card.
Will it be confidential?
Absolutely, we respect your privacy. What you say in the questionnaires and in the interview will be kept private and confidential.
how many will participate?
A total of 45 women will be involved in the development phase. Another 350 women will be asked to take part in testing the intervention.
WHAT ELSE SHOULD you KNOW?
To see if this study is right for you, we’ll ask you to complete a brief screening survey. The survey will ask about your background, social support, alcohol use, and sexual experiences – both wanted and unwanted.
